The 2016 Census of Population and Housing will be held on August 9 and more than 800 area supervisors are required to manage operations across NSW.
NSW census director Liz Bolzan said the supervisors played a key role.
“Every five years the census provides an important statistical snapshot of our nation,” she said.
“We can’t collect information from close to 10 million dwellings and about 24 million people in Australia without the help of the large workforce we recruit each census.”
The roles and responsibilities of field staff this time around directly reflect the changes in society since the last census in 2011.
The 2016 event will take a digital-first approach for the first time, with 65 per cent of Australian households expected to complete the document online.
