I personally witnessed 40-plus local farmers blocking the entrance gate to the Leewood water treatment facility last Wednesday.
This was also witnessed by Prime 7 News and the BBC.
It is misleading in the least to say that local people are in favour of Santos’ project, but really it is just severely disingenuous.
The fact that Coonabarabran – linked to Narrabri by the very aquifer that is at risk – is totally against CSG seems to indicate that it is not just Narrabri that is affected by this issue.
The food and water security of a vast area of eastern Australia is affected by Santos’ work.
Narrabri is being very parochial in their tantrum about protesters coming from outside the shire.
It is not just a local issue.
It is a national issue with massive consequences to the people of Australia.
