A total of 640 horses will go under the hammer during the annual three-day sale and with some big prices yesterday, hopes are high for today and tomorrow.
The first lot of the day, a black gelding, went for a healthy $17,000, setting a positive tone.
The highest price yesterday was $68,000 for a mare, Jayem Snipellieta, brought to the sale by Cameron Parker, of Alton Downs, in Queensland, and going home with the Toonga Pastoral Co. of Wagga Wagga.
Milton and Cristina Jones, from the Northern Territory, paid $60,000 for a stallion offered by Dungowan couple Barry and Salli Smith.
Landmark’s Maree Fields said there was a big and enthusiastic crowd present for the sale’s first day and all indications were prices would remain strong.
