TAMWORTH Harness Racing Club (THRC) ran the Vale Margaret Ford Pace at Tamworth Paceway yesterday and Uralla trainer-driver Mitch Faulkner had the pleasure of winning the memorial to one of the THRC’s long-serving volunteers with talented Gottaluva Sunday.

Faulkner also had the pleasure of sitting quietly in front all race to win by an easy 6m.
Gottaluva Sunday is down from her Brisbane base for a short time with Faulkner and the Uralla reinsman is making the most of it.
He has enjoyed plenty of success this year already and believes there might be a few more wins in store for Gottaluva Sunday in the coming weeks before she heads back to Bart Cockburn.
He thinks she might win a few up there as well.
Winning the Vale Margaret Ford Pace was also a nice touch for him.
“It was always a happy experience in the swabbing box with her,” he said.
That was because he was in there with a winner, THRC deputy chairman Mark Lowe responded in their on-course post-race interview.
“Yeah, but she made it even better,” Faulkner added.
Ford was a long-time and valued volunteer for the THRC, Lowe said.
“She’d come from the other side of Nundle,” Lowe said.
“Even on a Sunday meeting she’d front up. It was our pleasure to honour her memory with this race.”
No Confession ended a long run of outs when the Ernie Mabbott-trained gelding won yesterday’s Thread Effects Pace (1980m).
Anthony Varga gained some late runs to run down leader Artistic Double and beat the fast-finishing Schwartz Denario by a half neck with Artistic Double another neck away third.
“He’s been going good,” Varga said.
“He was down in grade a bit today and got a nice cart up.”
Len Simon returned from a short “holiday” to lead all the way and claim an easy win in yesterday’s Tamworth Veterinary Hospital Pace (1980m).
Simon returned from a brief suspension to score a fifth race success with his five-year-old daughter of Art Major.
She was having her 11th start and had no trouble seeing off her opposition from the mobile one barrier. Never headed, she won by 5.75m in a mile rate of 2:01.9.
“She’s going well,” Simon told Lowe after the win.
“It’s taken a little time with her but she’s won five out of 11 now.”
