Connors turns 60 in April and celebrates with his 2016 show, Sixty Summers Hits and Previews, featuring hits and favourites from his 17 albums and a preview of songs from his forthcoming studio album.
It's also 40 years since his first album, And When Morning Comes, was released.
"Tamworth will be the first template for the year's touring," Connors said. "I love the excitement of kicking off the year in Tamworth again."
Sixty Summers, the new album, celebrates life and what's great about an Aussie summer, including road trips, sunshine, the outdoors, summer love, camping, cricket, drinking and eating and is his first album of all-new material in several years.
He is a pioneer of coastal country in Australia, celebrating life in the tropics and featuring boats and beaches.
Connors' career has included 18 albums, 14 Golden Guitars, an ARIA award, two APRA songwriting awards, two American Song Festival Awards, two MO Awards for live performance, 12 Tamworth Songwriters Association Awards, a prestigious Songmaker accolade for contribution to Australian songwriting, and a number of his songs recorded by Slim Dusty and John Denver, among others. He received the Centenary Medal in recognition of distinguished contribution to the music industry and is a Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow and a Q150 Icon.
The singer-songwriter will introduce his new band of Scott Hills, Greg Carruthers, Brett Wood, Jeff Camilleri and Andrew Shravemade
Connors will bring his coastal country to the Tamworth Town Hall today at 3pm.
