Since its inception, close to 1000 entries have been given the once-over by the judges.
Organisers are again impressed with the 150 latest works in a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, sketch, and sculpture, on display at Ray Walsh House in Tamworth.
This year, artists have come from a wide area of the region as well as Dubbo, Newcastle, Sydney and even Tweed Heads.
All will be vying for a slice of more than $2500 in prizemoney, according to Challenge Community Services chief executive Barry Murphy.
“We’ve gone with the My Reflection theme this year, where artists were all encouraged to reflect on how they feel about themselves,” Mr Murphy said.
“It’s not only open to Challenge, but people with disabilities in general.
“Our guys here who have participated in art classes over the years have got a real kick out of it.
“A couple of our own have taken out one or two awards over the years – though there are a couple of guys from the coast, who are not with Challenge, who seem to clean up quite often."”
Mr Murphy said the competition would be adjudicated by Tamworth Regional Gallery judges, but the public was invited to Ray Walsh House tomorrow and Thursday to cast their own votes.
He said organisers were very impressed with the calibre of talent.
“Numbers are similar to previous years, though I think the biggest we’ve had so far was just under 200.”
