Governor Hurley, who will be joined by wife Linda for the trip, was last in the area in May for the opening of the NSW CWA conference at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre, and said they were looking forward to seeing another facet of the city.
“Linda and I appreciate how important local festivals are to regional economies and communities,” he said.
“The country music festival’s fame and reputation is renowned and we want to celebrate with the people that make it happen.”
Mrs Hurley said she had always had a love of music and singing.
“I have always loved to sing. It is a great pleasure to support groups that encourage singing and music for people of all ages, for the intrinsic joy it brings,” she said.
While in the area, the couple will also indulge their other areas of
particular interest, such as youth engagement, regional growth, innovation and service to the community.
From Tamworth, they will visit Dubbo.
The visits are part of a commitment made by Governor Hurley when he took on the role to spend time each month in a different regional location.
