The group of 85 students, four teachers and a band of parents visited places such as Hyde Park Barracks where they learned about the convicts and their rough past, St Mary's Cathedral, the Observatory, Sydney Opera House and State Parliament House where they were able to watch question time among parliament members.
Parliament House in particular was a memorable experience as it is year six's main focus in HSIE where they have been learning about state and federal parliament for the past semester.
They saw artworks from Claude Monet to Vincent Van Gough at the NSW Art Gallery, visited the Power House and took in the magnificent view of Sydney from the top of Sydney Tower.
To top off a fantastic excursion the students also went to the Sydney Aquarium, Taronga Zoo and Mary Mackillop House.
