The $4.5 million store at Eastpoint shopping centre will officially open at 8am and will include a bakery, seafood behind the counter, a delicatessen, a pizza bar creating fresh pizza to order and a café.
Woolworths Tamworth Eastpoint store manager Belinda Dawsib said 150 people would be employed at the store, creating employment opportunities for the local area.
“We are delighted that the opening of a new Woolworths sees us welcoming so many new people to the company from the Tamworth area,” Ms Dawsib said.
As part of the company’s Local Sourcing program, the store will look to promote produce from the Tamworth and surrounding area to connect customers with local produce as much as possible.
The store will be open 6am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 8pm on Sundays.
The Eastpoint Dan Murphy’s will celebrate its grand opening tomorrow with top of the range whisky and wine tastings, along with local and national wine, spirit and beer tastings throughout the day.
There will be giveaways and store promotions of earlybird tastings of Penfolds Grange 2010, a dry red valued at about $750 a bottle and others during the afternoon, discount deals and prize competitions.
