Calala Cottage Spring Fair co-ordinator and Tamworth Historical Society vice-president Jennifer Porter said she was pleased with the steady flow of visitors throughout the day.
“Highlights included the children in the schoolhouse. Everyone in the society comes together as a team,” she said.
“It is a big job for a small group. We had the Fellowship of the First Fleeters and the Tamworth Family History Group join us.”
Mrs Porter said she wanted people to leave with a general feel for the historic aspect of Calala Cottage.
“It’s all about sharing the history of Tamworth,” she said.
“I want people to know what a wonderful asset it is to Tamworth, and would like them to bring visitors to Tamworth here.”
As well as children enjoying a look back at schooling from the past, there was also sheep shearing, performers in the ballroom – Richard Hutt on piano, John Wolfe on organ, and Peter and Heather Bowden, with Peter on bagpipes and Heather on the organ, and the Sing Australia performers outside.
Mrs Porter said it was pleasing to see so many Tamworth people attend the fair.
The fair has been an important part of Tamworth’s calendar every two years for more than 20 years.
