As the rollout of the NDIS continues across the country, leading disability provider Challenge Community Services will present a “7 Steps to NDIS” community meeting at the Tamworth Community Centre.
The information session is aimed at answering questions from community members on how the scheme will benefit people with a disability and their families.
Challenge is currently part of the NDIS trial in the Hunter Valley and has more than 12 months’ experience operating three NDIS trial sites under the scheme.
To date, 40 participants and their families have been successfully transitioned to the NDIS.
With the initiative still in its trial stage, Challenge chief executive officer Barry Murphy said the organisation had experienced many positive outcomes for participants with disabilities, but it was important people were educated on how it would benefit their lives.
“The NDIS will not only present opportunities for people with disabilities, but also the hundreds of staff working in the disability industry,” he said.
There will be a morning session next Thursday from 10.30am until midday, and an evening session from 4.30pm to 6pm.
