Primary pupils investigate uni

After becoming acclimatised to the weather, all passengers were ushered into the sports facility, where a healthy morning tea was provided.

Everyone was placed into two groups and then participated in rotational activities of fitness exercises and measuring fitness strength.

With the time ticking away, students were taken to the cafeteria area and provided with freshly made sandwiches, fruit and a drink.

Then it was time to learn about ship archaeology, which was quite interesting.

It was amazing to hear how specialist people go in search of shipwrecks, looking for sunken ships from decades and centuries ago and what they do with these relics once located.

The next stop was the museum. Students filled in a quiz as they meandered their way around the amazing displays of artefacts from various countries over the many centuries, which brought inquisitiveness to many students, staff and parents.

The last stop for the day for all who attended this educational experience was to solve a CSI mystery.

With items being stolen and corpses lying around, everyone had to be fingerprinted and photographed to be eliminated from the suspect list. Some were detained later for further questioning.

With the chill starting to set in and without looking at watches, everyone knew it was time to board the bus and head down south back to Tamworth.

The trip was to encourage students to do their best at school from the primary years to the high school years; and to be aware of what universities have to offer and the support available for the students.

Importantly, it was to show students they can achieve their educational dreams without travelling too far from home.
