“It’s a great pleasure to be working once again with Opera Australia to bring this stunning and unique production to cinema audiences worldwide,” Cinema Live co-director and CEO Peter Skillman said.
“After the international success of Madama Butterfly on Sydney Harbour in cinemas, we are looking to make an even bigger splash this year with Aida.”

Making his eagerly awaited Australian debut as Radames is the internationally – renowned Italian tenor Walter Fraccaro.
Sets and costumes are by the award-winning artist, designer and sculptor Mark Thompson whose 18-metre tall statue of Nefertiti is the central set element.
Composed by Giuseppe Verdi, the most famous of Italian opera composers, Aida made its world debut in 1871 at the Khedivial Opera House in Cairo and its European debut at La Scala, Milan the following year.
It was an instant hit and was swiftly booked into opera houses in the USA, Argentina, Germany, Russia, Hungary, the UK, Sweden, France and Poland.
