Millions of tourists may flock to Australia as a direct result of Sydney's most talked about wedding, Auburn's deputy mayor claims in an online post that lashes out at the media.

Salim Mehajer has taken to Facebook to criticise the "nonsense" printed by the Australian press since the August 15 spectacle, which included a fleet of luxury sports cars, a procession of bikers, a troupe of drummers and four helicopters.

The ensuing scrutiny of the 29-year-old property developer and his business interests prompted the state government to announce it would scrap controversial laws that allow councillors to vote on planning controls from which they potentially stand to benefit.

"I believe that the only laws which require immediate change are the rules and regulations relating to the 'media'," Cr Mehajer's Facebook post said.

"I think my Pre-Wedding video & subsequent events from the 'Wedding day' may have attracted millions of tourists to our country & indeed I look forward to witness [sic] the statistical increase."

Cr Mehajer claims the overseas media has written "ample" positive reports about him, "whilst the media in my very own Country that I call home, my 'Motherland', so to speak, writes nothing but negative articles / negative feedback on all facets of social media".

"I strive for the best in all aspects of my personal, social & professional life and live for my Country, and thus such nonsense prevails," it continues.

The Facebook post comes a day after the deputy mayor took out a half-page advertisement in his local paper that blamed hired "third parties" for the road chaos that marked his wedding day and earned him a $220 fine.

Unlike the Facebook post – which had been shared 23 times on Wednesday evening - the newspaper ad warned it was "not to be decimated [sic], used for republication or for any other purpose".
