United was a class above its cross-town rival, who played well it patches but now bows out of the competition after a difficult 2015 campaign.
Goals to Matt Broderick, Jake Avery, James O'Connor and Josh Casey sealed the win for United.
Avery's was the highlight of the afternoon. After receiving the ball wide on the left, he made a good run to the edge of the FC area before firing high into the goal.
O'Connor's was an opportunistic goal, nipping in to nod a ball into the FC net.
Earlier, the break came at the wrong time for FC, who had gone ahead thanks to a header from Sam Langley.
United fought its way back into the contest, and despite winning by three goals, was pushed the whole way.
They could have had more, but for some great stops by FC keeper Terrance Stafford.
Coach Chris Walsh said his team didn't put in its best performance, but finished well on the day.
He described the contest as "tooth and nail". Walsh said his team was flat at the break as honours were even on the scoreboard at 1-1.
"Full credit to Port FC today," Walsh said.
"They gave it to us, and probably outplayed us a bit in the first half.
"They were trying to pass and we were just booting it."
FC coach Tony Wilson lamented a tough year for his team, but he had plenty of pride for FC's camaraderie and performances.
The hosts started well again on Saturday, but the game slipped away.
"For 25 minutes there, we just ruled the roost," he said.
"We were playing great football."
He had plenty of praise for Stafford in goals.
"He kept us in the game," Wilson said.
FC was guilty of playing the long ball at times, which Wilson said resembled an Enid Blyton book as they were easy to read and pick the outcome.
He was referring to the beloved English children's author.
