NSW Police launched National Missing Persons Week on Sunday to help track down loved ones or bring closure to the families who have been searching for answers.
The annual campaign raises awareness of the men and women who have not be seen for months, years or even decades. But police hope the fresh appeal for information this week could help solve what happened.
If you know something, give Crime Stoppers a call on 1800 333 000.
CASE 1: URSULA BARWICK
Name: Ursula Barwick
Age: 17
Last seen: Ursula boarded a train at Tuggerah Railway Station, on the state’s Central Coast, and was believed to be travelling to Hornsby, in late September 1987.
Reporting missing: 1987
Details: Ursula told her family she was travelling to Hornsby to work in a bohemian retail store and to find accommodation.
Her family had planned to visit her to bring the majority of her property and help her settle into her new home but there has been no contact with family or friends since Ursula boarded the train.
Strike Force Hemingway, comprising officers from Kings Cross Local Area Command, is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ursula’s disappearance.
Police believe Ursula may have met with foul play, however, they’re continuing to follow all lines of inquiry and are keen to hear from anyone with information that may assist detectives.
There was an unconfirmed sighting of Ursula between September 1987 and February 1988, where she may have been seen with two other girls known to her in Kings Cross.
Investigators are now appealing to anyone that may have worked in or owned a bohemian clothing or jewellery store in Hornsby in 1987 to come forward.
Inquiries also suggest Ursula had worked intermittently as a nanny in Sydney between 1986 and 1988, and they’d like to hear from anyone who may have had contact with her during this time.
