There are 300 million reasons why the Shenhua Watermark mine has been given the green tick from the environmental minister, and there will be another 200 million reasons why it will go ahead!

Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the smoke screen and illusion that all due process is being followed and investigated regarding the security of the food bowl on the Liverpool Plains.
From experience with the approvals process of mining companies, I can tell you that you have all been “had” long ago, and it is only a matter of time before the final hammer falls.
When it comes to the political sides of the fence, it makes no difference who is in government they are not to be trusted with the ‘peoples’ property, whether it is a state forest, prime agricultural land, sacred Gomeroi cultural heritage, or our precious water!
They can’t be trusted to be the care takers of any of the above.
Australia has two sets of rules – one for the extractive industry and one for the people who live here and are traditional custodians; those that help feed a nation on the Liverpool Plains; those that try their hardest to protect a critically endangered forest of white box grassy woodlands at Maules Creek.
I have no faith in the present or past government to be at the helm of our great nation!
They are not listening to the people.
The First Nations people have had ten of their 11 significant sites destroyed by the mining company Whitehaven that has bulldozed white box grassy woodlands in the Leard State Forest, and now they stand to have significant sites destroyed by Shenhua.
The government sanctioned this! Or should I say, turned a blind eye to what is really happening out in the “bush”.
Our food and water security is of the utmost importance, yet it is last on the list to be considered.
It makes no difference if Greg Hunt has placed 18 conditions of consent on paper; let me tell
you now, it is all about words on paper, and they are generally meaningless, just put there to make it look like the minister is doing his job.
Cynical maybe, but just wait and see – with good lawyers there are always loopholes.
There is a legal challenge in the Land and Environment Court at this very moment.
People that care are launching this challenge – but why is it left up to the people to do this?
Our iconic koala is at the centre of this debacle.
These amazing animals are very territorial and it is almost certain that many will not survive any type of “re-location” just to facilitate a huge hole in the ground, after all their favourite habitat trees are knocked down.
Legislation and laws have been, and probably will be, changed again to facilitate these mining companies with their big dollars.
Why are the people of Australia being duped like this by our own government?
Dollars!
Stand strong people of the Liverpool Plains, there is too much at risk to allow this to proceed further.
