Just before 3pm on Wednesday, a man's body was found discovered inside a Fitzroy St home in the town.
Emergency services had been called to the home following concerns for the welfare of the man.
On Wednesday night, extra lighting was delivered to the scene to help forensic police and detectives after a crime scene was established at the scene.
A canvass of the neighbourhood was also being undertaken.
Police have confirmed the man was aged in his seventies.
"The man's death is being treated as suspicious," a police spokesperson told The Leader last night.
"Anyone with information about the man's death should call Crime Stoppers on 1300 333 000."
