Damien Linnane is accused of threatening an Armidale man with a replica firearm, slashing the tyres on vehicles in the town earlier this year, and setting fire to an Armidale home in November last year.
He appeared in an out-of-sessions bail hearing in Armidale Local Court yesterday morning, where he was successful in his bid for release, with strict conditions.
The Leader was there when the 29-year-old was arrested on Tuesday morning in Armidale, as simultaneous raids were carried out on two properties in the town and items of interest were seized.
Detectives have been investigating Linnane since early June, when they received information from the public to suggest a house fire in Ash Tree Dr, in the early hours of November 29, was suspicious.
The fire completely destroyed the home and, following investigations, detectives will allege in court Linnane deliberately lit the blaze.
Linnane is also charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, after allegedly threatening a man with a replica firearm at a hotel in Marsh St on March 27 this year.
He is facing two further counts of malicious damage stemming from the alleged slashing of tyres on vehicles in Armidale during February and March.
Linnane has been ordered to report to police three times a week and is under a strict curfew.
He is prohibited from contacting witnesses and has been ordered not to go within a certain distance of four locations in Armidale.
Police won’t be drawn on the motive behind the alleged attacks, saying the matter is now before the courts.
Linnane will remain on bail until the case heads back to court this month.
