Last month, a district court judge set a date, ordering Todd Allen Finlay to stand trial on charges of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and wounding causing GBH.
The chief judge of the district court confirmed the trial was set down for May next year and is expected to last about a week.
Police allege Finlay stabbed a 42-year-old man in the abdomen when a fight broke out at a property off Blackstump Way, Mullaley, about 35km out of Gunnedah on May 9, 2014.
The injured man was taken to Tamworth hospital for emergency surgery.
A 22-year-old also received stab wounds to his abdomen, and was transported for treatment by ambulance paramedics.
Detectives took on the investigation because of the serious nature of the incident, and Finlay was charged.
In April, Finlay waived his right to a committal hearing after reviewing a brief of evidence, instead choosing to head straight to trial.
He remains on bail.
