The country music legend, who’s topped the charts both in the American and Aussie music fields, told visiting Tamworth Regional Council delegates in Nashville that he wanted to return to Tamworth as soon as he was able and bring wife Nicole Kidman and daughters Sunday and Faith.
Longtime fan and member of the Keith’s Aussie Monkeys fan club Tegan Pinkerton said she would be “over the moon” if he returned to Tamworth. The Tamworth woman has seen countless Urban shows since the 1990s and said an Urban visit would bring plenty of benefits to Tamworth.
“It would be a massive deal for Tamworth, with the success of his 2011 return,” she said.
Ms Pinkerton said Urban could take his daughters to the playgrounds and parks, which would be finished by the time he visited, and he could show Kidman all the places he used to play.
“They could maybe attend the Toyota Star Maker shows, to show her (Nicole) where it all started for him,” she said.
“The council needs to be involved, and the fanbase in Tamworth is exceptional. He needs to headline, to make it worth his while. Just imagine the economic boost we would get to our festival if it could be pulled off.”
Ms Pinkerton said a tourist video could be made to convince Kidman to accompany her husband on the visit. During the Nashville meeting with council delegates, Urban signed a guitar for the city, which will be displayed at the visitor information centre an d the airport.
