The release is the first announced under the WJO and Universal Music pairing. Simmonds said it was great to have Mighty Mighty Love out again, as it had been out of print for seven years.
“This was a great chance to release it with my two albums,” she said.
“People who may not have had the albums or EP can now get my music.”
The Tamworth woman said she hoped new fans would also discover her music through the collection.
The lead single from the double CD is Joshua, which has been charting well.
It tells the story of Simmonds’ baby brother Joshua, who would have been 21 this year.
She recently performed the songs live and did a phone-in with 2UE and people rang to tell her how it had helped them cope with their losses.
Simmonds said it was amazing that she could write such a personal song, but have it mean so much to others.
“It took a long time to write the song,” she said. “I really wanted to write the song so that every time I played it, he knew we were thinking of him and loved him.”
She said her whole family cried the first time she played it to them.
“I was really lucky my whole family was there, but we just sat and cried for a while,” she said.
“It kind of brought us together a bit more. It was nice for us to share that.”
The clip, recorded at midnight at The Vanguard straight after a gig, has also been charting well on CMC.
While touring with The Girls of Country show, which was in Tamworth a couple of weeks ago, Simmonds is turning her attention to her upcoming album project.
“I’ve written 13 songs so far,” she said.
“I’m always trying to write a better song than the last one.”
She said she hoped to have the album released before the Mildura Country Music Festival in October.
Simmonds has also contributed vocals to James Blundell’s upcoming album, which she said was an honour because it was Blundell’s music that got her family into country music.
Now that she is back in town, the country singer-songwriter will also be offering guitar, vocal and songwriting tuition.
Her collector’s edition double CD is out this week.
