The former Rabbitoh and Kangaroo was in Tamworth with the South Sydney Rabbitohs for an oral hygiene promotion at Hillvue Public School, where he was helping spread the message via the South Cares program for dental health.
It’s a program running in conjunction with Colgate’s Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® oral health program.
While spreading the hygienic word to the young primary school students from Hillvue and West Tamworth, he was also spreading the optimistic word about the Blues and his South Sydney Bunnies.
An ambassador for the NRL as well as membership ambassador for South Sydney, Fenech is well placed to speak on both.
“They won’t want to take us lightly,” he said of last night’s second State Of Origin.
“It’s important we get to 1-all.
“If we do it will be a big one in Brisbane (for the third SOO).”
As a membership ambassador for the Bunnies, he’s sure the famous club with the cardinal and myrtle colours can rebound from last Friday’s shock loss to the Wests Tigers.
“We’re still up there,” he said.
“We’ve got a good side with the best coach and coaching staff.
“When you are premiers every side tries harder to beat you.
“I know, I used to do it myself.
“But we’re aiming to finish in the top four.”
He said it’s a game that runs hand in glove with children’s health and stressed the importance of primary students brushing their teeth twice a day and having a healthy breakfast.
If they do, who knows, the boys could finish up playing State Of Origin or the girls could make it into the Matildas football side which won its way into the next round of the Women’s World Cup in Canada yesterday.
