The Tamworth Catholic school has a young open girls’ team, a girls’ Under 16 side and a boys’ Under 16 team.
The Under 16 girls play in Division 1 and play Grafton’s McAuley Catholic College in the first of three games today at 9.50am. They follow up with afternoon games against Wollongong’s St Mary Star of the Sea College (12.30pm) and Goulburn’s Trinity College at 2.30pm.
Australian Over 45s representative Andrew Davey and Geoff Denton are coaching the girls’ teams.
“The open girls’ side is a bit depleted,” Denton said.
“This clashes with their Year 12 formal so we don’t have any Year 12 girls at all.”
The Open girls’ side plays in the Open Division B with games against St Joseph’s Catholic College Gosford East at 8.10am today and St Francis Xaviers College Hamilton at 10.40m.
The boys’ under 16 side is coached by Isaac Farmilo and plays its first game against St Clare’s High School, Taree at 9am and follows up with Mount St Patrick College Murwillumbah (10.40am) and McAuley Catholic College at 12.30pm.
All three sides play in their local Tamworth junior competitions and have a good even spread of talent.
