Parry, 16, is in the NSW Under 16s side selected to play Queensland Under 16s.
His father, former Werris Creek backrower Troy Parry, is an immensely proud dad as he drives to Sydney this morning to watch his son, now on scholarship with the Parramatta Eels at St Gregory’s College, Campbelltown, play for the NSW Under 16s.
“It’s very exciting for Ethan,” Troy Parry said.
“He’s been in camp with the NSW side and is very excited.”
Just turned 16, Ethan is in Year 10 at St Gregs.
“He went down at the start of the year,” Troy Parry said.
“And he’s on scholarship with the Eels until 2019.
“He played Harold Matthews Cup for them this year.
“They were undefeated until the grand final but got beaten 30-20 by Cronulla.
“He just can’t believe how good things are going for him.”
Born in Tamworth, he attended Tamworth Public School and then Oxley High before Parramatta spotted him playing representative football for Group 4 juniors.
A North West Schools Sport Association rugby union and rugby league representative, the young backrower has grown into a talented backrower.
“He’s six foot four and 96kg already,” his father said.
“He towers over me.
“Every time I go down to Sydney he seems to have had another growth spurt.
“He’s really excited about playing in this curtainraiser. It’s going to be a big night.”
Ethan is now managed by Allan Gainey, who also represents Queensland and South Sydney superstar Greg Inglis.
