The Barrie Pritchard-coached side will be one of the first sides in action, down to play Bathurst & District at 8am.
It’ll be the first of three games for the day.
They finish with a 5pm match-up with Metro South West Sydney (2).
It will make for a challenging first day and will test them out physically, Pritchard said.
The weekend is a bit of an unknown for him. It’s been “a long while” since he coached a Tamworth rep side.
“I’m not really sure of the standard of the other associations,” he said.
But he’s confident his side will give a good account of themselves.
“We’ve got a pretty strong side,” he said.
“We’ve got Alice (Arnott) and Abigail (Doolan) who were in the NSW U18s side.”
They’ll form a strong core with another NSW rep, Em Chaffey.
“We’ll be strong in the midfield with Alice, Abigail and Em,” he said.
“That will be a good thing for us. That’s the controlling part of the field to an extent.”
They’ve got plenty of strong players around them, not that Pritchard has any set expectations.
“The whole idea is to go there and enjoy yourself, and to learn,” he said.
Tamworth is fielding two sides down in Newcastle.
The 2s are contesting Division 3 and face Sydney South (1) and Wagga & Riverina today.
New England is also sending down a side.
They’ll play in Division 2 and be looking to carry on from the success of the U18s boys who took out the Division 3 title last weekend.
