Boggabri RSL secretary David Grover said the crowd for the march was the biggest he had ever seen, with an estimated 400 people turning up to pay their respects.
“It went really, really well, both afterwards and at the cenotaph,” Mr Grover said.
“There were more people than I can remember we’ve ever had.
“We had 200 for the dawn service at Baan Baa, and approximately 400 in Boggabri for the march.”
Mr Grover, who served from 1969-1971, said at that time, the number of veterans in the parade swelled to about 50 people.
He said while now only about 15 veterans marched, the numbers of those who joined the crowd had increased.
The Boggabri commemoration was led by Boggabri RSL president Steve Eather.
The official service was followed by a Red Cross morning tea that raised $400 for Legacy.
Mr Grover said people then went to the RSL for a “few toasts” and the traditional two-up which attracted a large crowd.
