Ten per cent of the proceeds from the sale of the Bulimba Barracks must be invested into local infrastructure, local representatives from all three levels of government have insisted.

But the Abbott government has already poured cold water on the proposal, saying any proceeds would be reinvested into the Australian Defence Force.
The ADF will sell most of the 23-hectare site, which had housed the Joint Logistics Unit prior to its relocation to RAAF Amberley, on the open market once the federal government has completed its due diligence.
Given the size and location of the Bulimba Barracks, the site was expected to bring in many millions of dollars to the ADF.
Local federal member Terri Butler, state member Di Butler and councillor Shayne Sutton – all members of the Labor Party – have called on the Coalition government to ensure 10 per cent of those proceeds to be set aside to improve local infrastructure.
"Our local road network is already struggling to cope with current traffic demand," Cr Sutton said.
"You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out more people living in this area is going to put significant additional pressure on that road network."
The Oxford Street roundabout, the intersection of Apollo and Lytton roads and the capacity of Hawthorne and Riding roads were highlighted as cases in point.
A park-and-ride facility at the Apollo Road ferry terminal, adjacent to the Bulimba Barracks, was also a priority, Cr Sutton said.
"These projects are expensive and it is not fair or practical to assume (the Brisbane City Council) will be able to pay for all of them," she said.
"We need support from all levels of government."
Ms Butler said it was incumbent on the Abbott government to reinvest into the area after selling the site for a "bucket load of money", while Ms Farmer said the increased population would put more pressure on the already stretched Bulimba State School.
"Serious thought and resources must be dedicated to how our local schooling system will cope with the extra demand from the site," Ms Farmer said.
The Labor members' proposal was flatly rejected by a spokesman for Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Darren Chester, who ruled out any such infrastructure funding arrangement.
"The proceeds from the sale of all Defence land goes back into the ADF's budget," he said.
