OPENING the 84th annual Bingara Show on Saturday, Adam Marshall may well have conjured up the rain.
During his speech, he said he hoped Bingara would enjoy "three inches of rain tomorrow", but his prediction came true a lot sooner than expected with 40mm-50mm dumping hail on the North West town and surrounds just three hours later.
Bingara Show Society president David Young said while the hailstorm did "put a dampener on things" for a short time, it didn't mar the 2.5-day show's success.
"We were very pleased with the overall event," Mr Young said.
"It was great to be able to recognise the big contributors to the show by awarding life membership to Ron Greenaway, who prepares the grounds for the campdraft, and Debra and Robert Mack, who are great supporters of the annual show."
Mr Young said some exhibitors couldn't att-nd as it was so close to the Sydney Royal, but he was pleased with the standard of sheep, cattle and wool exhibitors in attendance.
"Entries in the wool were holding par with last year, while there were increased numbers in sheep this time around," he said.
"The campdraft is always very solid, and entries for showjumping increased, while the hacks were solid, too."
