Carnival co-ordinator Debbie Watts said the event’s success exceeded their expectations with more than 2500 people attending.
“The rides and activities were a huge attraction for the young and young at heart, but the sensational fireworks provided by Holysmoke Fireworks were definitely the highlight of the night,” she said.
The event culminated with an explosion of colour and sound courtesy of a fireworks display put on by Guyra-based pyrotechnic priest Father Anthony Koppman.
There were nearly 30 market stalls, more than 20 school stalls and displays, entertainment by the school band and choir, the Tamworth RSL Brass Band, 2340, the Tamworth Pipe Band and displays by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, SES, St John Ambulance and the Fire Brigade.
As well as being a fun night out for the family, the Cracker Carnival was also a fundraiser for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and Calrossy Anglican School Parents’ and Friends’ Association, with fundraising money still being finalised.
Gold coin donations at the gate totalled $3380 for the rescue service.
Organisers are already planning for the event to become an annual community fundraiser.
