Police claim they spotted the 25-year-old speeding in a Mitsubishi sedan on Castlereagh Hwy, north of Walgett, about 2.15am on Saturday.
The officers were attending to a roadside grass fire at the time.
They initiated a pursuit but the driver of the silver Galant refused to pull over.
Police said the car, which had two passengers, swerved “side-to-side across the roadway” and, at one point, spun a full 360 degrees.
The driver allegedly attempted to evade police by turning off the highway and down a dirt road, but the car became stuck and officers swooped.
The three occupants were arrested and taken to Walgett Police Station, where the driver returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.153.
The driver was charged under Skye’s Law with failing to stop during a police pursuit, high-range drink-driving, driving while disqualified, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving an uninsured vehicle.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to front Walgett Local Court on April 14.
The two passengers were released without charge.
