Eoin Morgan says all responsibility for England's World Cup failure lies with the players, but has urged selectors to stick with the same group for the English summer.

The England captain is unsure whether he will remain as captain after the England and Wales Cricket Board's review of the debacle, but insisted selectors had picked the right 15-man squad for the tournament.

Morgan said he had no regrets after England's equal worst World Cup performance as he believed the team had tried their best.

And making changes, however tempting after such a poor campaign, was not the way forward, he said.

Morgan wants the same group of players to be considered for the home series against New Zealand and Australia.

There will, however, be room for England to experiment for their next one-dayer against Ireland, who have had more success this tournament. England are unlikely to be able to consider their Test players as the game comes just days after they finish their tour of the Caribbean.

England have been heavily criticised for not having picking the right squad or the right XIs.

They changed their No.3 on the eve of the tournament, moving James Taylor down the order to fit in Gary Ballance, who had missed the lead up in the tri-series. Ballance's inclusion came at the expense of all-rounder Ravi Bopara, who had played in the tri-series.

Chris Jordan was overlooked for all but the final two games, despite Stuart Broad's horror month, but proved his worth with a man of the match performance in the final match, against Afghanistan.

There was also consternation at the omission from the squad of hard-hitting all-rounder Ben Stokes, who subsequently rubbed selectors' nose in it by playing well in the Big Bash and smashing an unbeaten 151 off 86 balls against South Africa A - an innings which included 15 sixes.

"I think we have the right calibre of squad, absolutely," Morgan said.

"Guys on the outside need to be banging down the door. It's an easy thing to sit here while we're not doing well and say somebody outside the squad is better suited, they have great success.

"We considered everybody when selecting the squad and I still believe we have the right group of players here."

Morgan said it was not fair to pin the blame on coach Peter Moores, who, though under heavy criticism, is tipped to retain his job.

"All the responsibility should fall on the players. It's our responsibility to perform as a side, particularly when we've performed so badly," Morgan said.

"If there were little things where we couldn't get over the line or games where we competed and little parts of our game, finer things in our game weren't right we can look elsewhere.

"But it's important we as a side realise where the responsibility lies, where we want to be and how we want to get there."
