It took less than three hours of deliberations before the jury found Bradley Maybury and Michael James Maybury guilty of aggravated stealing from a person with violence causing grievous bodily harm yesterday.
The jury returned the unanimous verdict in Armidale District Court yesterday morning following the six day trial.
The pair stood trial, denying the charges against them stemming from the attack on Rouse St on December 14, 2013.
As part of the crown case, prosecutors maintained the pair, acting as a joint criminal enterprise, attacked a 20-year-old man, breaking his jaw and leaving him for dead lying on the street in the late night attack.
The victim, whose wallet was also stolen during the attack which knocked him unconscious, was airlifted to hospital for surgery for his injuries and also suffered a fractured cheekbone and eye socket.
The jury heard from several witnesses and was presented expert evidence as part of the case which the defence had maintained was circumstantial against Bradley Maybury.
The pair sat in the dock throughout the six-day trial and have been in custody since their arrest in the weeks following the 2013 attack.
Following the summing up by Judge Andrew Haesler, the jury retired to consider its decision late on Wednesday afternoon and returned to deliberate yesterday morning for just over an hour before they reached the verdict.
Both men were convicted by Judge Andrew Haesler following the return of the verdict and could face a maximum of 25 years in prison.
Judge Haelser has ordered a pre-sentence report for the pair ahead of a sentencing hearing scheduled in June in a Sydney court.
The pair remain behind bars.
