GREATER Northern Academy Cubs might be a little shy in the communication department but their coach is confident they can bring a more verbal game when they play the Newcastle Knights Under 15s at Cessnock’s Baddeley Park tomorrow.

The younger of the two GNA squads have not been outspoken at training sessions under head coach Peter Stevens.
So he’s a bit “reserved” in his opinion on how they might fare against the Knights when they take the field at 3pm tomorrow for their first game together.
“They have all acquitted themselves well at the training sessions,” Stevens said.
“They have taken a little while but, after the opposed session against the older Tigers the other day, they did go well.
“It’s going to be a big ask against the Knights because we aren’t a big side.
“We don’t have any standout player but all of them are a good standard.
“The big query is their communication with each other.
“That’s the biggest thing I have noticed at the training sessions.
“We lack any talkers. We’ve got leaders on the field but not in talking.
“Some players are like that, quiet, go out and do their jobs and I’m hoping once they get out on that field they will communicate well.”
While the Cubs tackle the Knights Under 15s from 3pm, the older GNA Tigers match up against the Knights Under 17s from 4.30pm.
Then the two GNA squads back up for a big weekend in Coffs Harbour against the North Coast and Northern Rivers’ academies next weekend.
