IT’S pleasing to see Tamworth petrol prices are still coming down, be it painfully slow, with E10 fuel at 117.9 cents per litre this week.

A big thank you to those Tamworth individuals and organisations prepared to stand up and out Tamworth’s unscrupulous petrol outlets.
Your actions would have been noted in a few boardrooms. Unfortunately for us, however, the petrol prices being offered today are still too high, being equivalent to Sydney prices of eight weeks ago.
I heard the chief of the ACCC on the local ABC Radio last week.
He made two points on the issue: he is coming to town to look at the issue of petrol pricing; and the differential between Sydney and Tamworth prices should be about six cents per litre.
Six cents per litre seems amply generous to me.
Any suggestion the price reductions enjoyed in Sydney are slow to flow on to Tamworth due to lower petrol turnover is utter rubbish, because the major fuel outlets in Tamworth receive tanker deliveries up to five times per week.
In my opinion, the current price of E10 fuel in Tamworth should be less than 105 cents a litre.
