Why did you decide to enter the Queen of Country Music Quest?
Honestly, it was a spur of the moment decision. I’d noticed some posts on Facebook and asked my mother if she’d help with the children while I carried out the princess duties. She said she’d be happy to help. What better way to start my year of 2015 by getting out in the community at such an event that brings life and attention to the talent in our region.
What do you like most about the festival?
Pure atmosphere! The fact all walks of life pour down Peel St and mingle together. I love being able to take my children downtown and show them what our town is about and introduce them to the fabulous music that is produced.
What do you love about living in Tamworth?
I grew up in Tamworth and greatly enjoyed my childhood at the town pool, the parks around town and schooling. Now I get the chance to show my children Tamworth and all the things it has to offer and the way I grew up. I find even though we’re classed as a city, we don’t have as many modern pressures as a larger city does.
Tell us about yourself: what are your interests, hobbies, passions?
I’m very active. If I’m not at home with my children or running them to extra-curricular events, I like to play soccer, running and take part in Kootingal triathlons. I love working out at the gym; fitness is a big part of my life. If I don’t function neither does my family.
Tell us about a significant achievement in your life?
I have a personal achievement of once weighing 120kg and having lost 50kg. I’ve also raised money for several organisations such as Shave for a Cure and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. However, raising my three boys - Lachlan, Kobi and Jacob - is the biggest achievement by far.
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
In five years’ time I hope to have finished my degree and be in a job I love. I also hope my fitness is at its peak and my children are as happy and healthy as can be. I would also like to still be living in Tamworth - don’t think I’ll ever leave.
Describe your dream holiday destination and why?
My dream destination would be Tasmania. I not only love the wineries but I love the history of tragic Port Arthur. I also heard there were some good chocolate factories there, so could make a sneaky stop to them.
