Tah Man dropped by, along with a very special piece of silverware – the Super 15 trophy.
It’s part of a five-day statewide tour and also took them out to Narrabri in the afternoon.
“It’s all about getting out to the fans out here who can’t always be at games,” Waratahs partnerships executive and community engagement officer Lachlan Britts said.
At Ben Venue, the visit coincided with a special sports assembly where the boys’ rugby side that finished state runners-up and the girls’ hockey side that was third were presented with their NSW PSSA certificates by Tah Man.
It was then down the highway to Tamworth.
There, Tah Man was welcomed by chants of Tah Man.
He then posed for a few photos, including with the school’s open boys’ rugby side, which drew with Ben Venue in the state knockout and was undefeated in the Friday night competition.
The boys were excited to see the the trophy first-hand, although some of them had got a glimpse of it when they played for North West at the state carnival.
Among them was Zac Follington.
He was there when the Waratahs claimed the silverware for the first time by defeating the Crusaders.
“It was awesome,” Follington said.
“It was the best game.”
The Waratahs began pre-season training last month ahead of their title defence.
They will kick that off on February 15 against the Western Force.
