The area surrounding the pool resembled a tent embassy as swimmers, supporters, and coaches looked to get out of the 40 plus temperatures.
The heat did nothing to deter clubs from attending as teams from 19 different pools arrived including Boggabri, Denman and Inverell.
On Saturday the longer events and medley relays were raced, with the shorter events going over a full Sunday.
Carnival secretary Rebecca Wolfgang said the club was really happy that they got a big turnout this year
“It is bigger than last year,” Wolfgang said.
“We have strong entry numbers across all events as well.
“ It is a very good size.”
Even though it feels like the middle of summer it is actually only the start of the swim season.
For Scully coach Brian Watson it was a great opportunity to see the full squad in action.
“Manilla was the first carnival of the season last week,” Watson said.
“It is good to get a proper look at how everyone is going.”
“It is very early in the season so we are not too concerned with results yet, although we are doing well.
Scully had 35 swimmers enter the carnival and while no records had been broken by Sunday lunch there was plenty of PBs and state qualifications.
Sabine Thompson qualified for state with a very quick 200m butterfly time in the U10s while Angus Wolfgang also swam the house down to qualify in the 200m breastroke.
Sarah Collison also qualified in the 200m freestyle and there was plenty more state and country qualification times expected on Sunday in the shorter events.
The Tamworth clubs also cleaned up a series of eight medley relays on Saturday afternoon.
“We won six from eight,” Watson said.
“A few relay teams also qualified for state.”
Tamworth City also took out a couple of the relays and were also in the medals all weekend.
“I am really pleased to be able to introduce a lot of young kids to competition this year as well,” Watson said.
“It is early in the season but everyone is swimming well.
“It also lets the swimmers and coaches see where the competition is at as well.”
