Simone Parsons was the brains behind the idea and roped in fellow Best Western Sanctuary Inn staff Terri Morris, Jay Herden and Michelle Boulton for the big chop.
Ms Parsons wasn’t nervous about losing her long, golden locks.
“I think it will be liberating,” Ms Parsons said. “It’s only hair for us.
“Some people lose themselves – we’re giving a part of us to support them.”
She said hair loss during chemotherapy treatment could be devastating for some people, who may have much of their identity tied up in their hair.
Terri Morris said the shave would be “a big deal” for her, as her hair reaches down to her waist.
“But it’s for a great cause – it’s as simple as that,” she said.
“Everybody is touched by cancer in some way.”
Every Wednesday, the women will be wearing their World’s Greatest Shave t-shirts at work to raise awareness and funds for the cause.
They were grateful the Best Western owner had put aside any prejudices about the professional hospitality “look” to help find a cure.
The women are hoping to raise an impressive $15,000 ahead of the shave on March 14 next year.
