GOLDEN GUITARS 2014: Awards ceremony | PHOTOS
KASEY Chambers and Luke O'Shea are leading the charge for Golden Guitars at next year's Country Music Awards of Australia.
Announced at a gala function in Sydney's The Rocks today, Chambers and O'Shea are categories in six categories each, including Male and Female Artist of the Year sections.
O'Shea's placings include the filmclip for Sing You Up, which was filmed in Boggabri at Camp Wando, a CSG protest camp.
Next in line is John Williamson with five finalist placings that include Clouds Over Tamworth, a song he wrote about the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Adam Harvey is also a finalist in five categories, and with three each – The McClymonts, Lyn Bowtell, Kristy Cox, Harmony James and McAlister Kemp.
Nashville-based Keith Urban, a former winner of the Star Maker, has scored a finalist berth in two categories - Single of the Year and Video Clip of the Year.
Catherine Britt and Morgan Evans hosted the event where the Golden Guitar Awards for Top Selling International Album of the Year which went to Dolly Parton for Blue Smoke, and the Sanity Top Selling Australian Album of the Year which was won by The McClymonts for Here’s To You & I.
CMAA vice chair Roger Corbett said there was a record number of nominations for 2015.
"This record number of entries are spread between signed artists and independents and is a great testament to the strength and diversity of the Australian country music brand,” he said.
“The CMAA congratulates every artist named as a finalist. The Golden Guitar Awards celebrate excellence and achievement and the finalists for 2015 represent the very best that Australian country music has to offer.”
Mr Corbett said the CMAA was delighted to be partners with the Tamworth Regional Council in presenting the 43rd Country Music Awards of Australia in Tamworth, as the pinnacle event of the city’s iconic country music festival.
