Shannon Lee O’Leary was charged with aggravated robbery following an incident on Warral Rd on Monday afternoon.
Police allege O’Leary snatched an item from a woman before fleeing the scene shortly after 12.30pm.
They say the woman and O’Leary, 29, were known to each other and were having a discussion about an alleged transaction between the pair.
O’Leary was arrested a short time afterwards by police patrolling the area and was later charged.
Police also made an application to review bail O’Leary had previously been on for a charge of supplying a firearm, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The fresh charges laid against him meant he was in breach of bail.
He was placed in custody before being granted bail yesterday.
Tamworth police have since spoken to the woman and say their investigation into the matter is continuing.
The matters will return to court on October 28.
