A public appeal to track down the convicted criminal was launched this month by Moree police before he was traced to Barwon Ave about 10.30am yesterday.
Police patrolling the area spotted the man, who was wanted for revocation of parole offences, before he fled on foot.
After a foot pursuit through neighbouring streets, officers cornered him in the backyard of a Tawarri St home.
He was handcuffed and taken into custody to serve out his sentence.
Barwon acting crime manager Detective Brent Falkiner said the community played a large part in the arrest.
“Local officers wish to express their thanks to members of the general public who provided assistance during (yesterday’s) arrest,” he said.
“Having the support of local residents is extremely important to police and the arrest is another example of the rewards of working together to achieve results which benefit the whole community.”
Detective Falkiner said police would continue to post details of wanted men and women who could be hiding in the local area.
“There is no doubt that social media can assist local police. Reducing and solving crime requires community input,” he said.
“Project Eyewatch allows us to increase our eyes and ears and allows residents to reach us and be reached in real time.”
