The day could mark the first ever back to back titles in the club’s history, but Binge’s focus hasn’t moved.
All season the Rangs have run over rivals on the back of doing the little things right, set completions and ballcontrol.
“Back to back is a huge thing for the players and club,” Binge said.
A stickler for the basics, Binge has the players focused on holding the ball rather than holding a shield.
“We are not nervous.”
“We are concentrating.
“Retaining possession, completing sets, tight defence around the rucks,” he reeled off.
“We are confident in the work we are doing and are making sure we all do our job on Sunday.”
That includes reserve grade who also face Inverell.
Binge had some difficult decisions to make this week, with centre Loyd Munro back from a broken arm, as well as some other returning players.
“We can’t afford to go in not at our best,” Binge said.
“The Hawks play consistent tough footy.”
The Boomerangs did the double 20 years ago and are hoping to celebrate the anniversary with a second while the Hawks are out to wreck the party and take their own double.
The Rangs reserve grade have played grand final footy for five years straight, winning three, and are looking for redemption after getting pipped at the post by Armidale last year.
“Five finals in a row – they are the core of the club,” Binge said.
Not subscribing to the favouritism talk, Binge said the side was only focused on what it can control.
The front row of Warren Cain and Toby Keys generally get the Rangs rolling downfield, although against a pack like the Hawks, Binge is packing reserves.
Pete Duncan and Madison Smith will go on rotation up front with Binge praising Smith’s attitude and form.
“Over the last eight weeks his commitment to fitness has been outstanding,” Binge said.
“He played his way in and deserves his spot.”
The Hawks will be looking to hold the Rangs’ pack up and pour the pressure on early.
“We won’t let the pressure get to us,” Binge said.
“There are big things at stake for the club.
“We are making sure we all do our jobs and finish the job.”
