Chloe and Brodii Ingram are representing the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges side while Brittany is playing for the NSW Touch Association Development Team.
The two teams have been drawn in the same pool and will face each other in the second game today.
As the name suggests, Australia’s best youth touch football talent will be on display over the four-day tournament with 34 teams from across Australia and even New Zealand competing in 18 boys and girls’ divisions.
The various teams were selected from various different events such as interschool tournaments, gala days and state school championships.
For Coe and Ingram, it was the latter, with the pair earning their selection at the NSW Catholic Championships at Wagga Wagga back in June.
Since then, they’ve been travelling to training camps at Newcastle and Penrith, and should go all right, the girls said.
They expect the Queensland sides to probably be the toughest, and Brittany’s.
She was selected into an initial squad after the NSW Regionals in Goulburn and then the final squad after trials at Penrith also in June.
Usually team-mates when it comes to rep carnivals, it will be the first time she’s played against Ingram and Chloe.
The latter is pretty keen to get one over her big sister.
“I want to beat her,” Chloe said.
It’s both for her and Ingram their second time away with the CCC team.
They were in the 16s two years ago, but only played Combined High Schools (CHS) and Combined Independent Schools (CIS) then.
The tournament should be good, they said, and will also see them playing Queensland Secondary Schools, South West Queensland Swans, South Australia Heat, Western Tigers, Northern Territory and the Touch NZ 17s in their pool fixtures.
The pool games will be played through to Friday with semi-finals and finals on Saturday.
