IT’S not often the case but Scone might have inadvertently done Walcha a favour by beating the Rams in the major semi-final.

It gave the Rams another game to iron out some of the kinks that had crept into their game.
And iron them out they did, with the Rams getting back to their devastating best.
“We sorted out a few issues,” Rams coach Andrew Crawford said.
He commented after the Scone game he’d never seen that big a calamity of errors from them.
“Our ball security was terrible,” he said.
“They stole a lot of ball from us.”
That was where a lot of their problems stemmed from.
There was little evidence of that against Tamworth last week, with the Rams turning over hardly any ball.
Crawford isn’t expecting the Brumbies to change their approach.
Neither will they be looking to that much – theoretically anyway.
“We hope to run their big guys around,” he said.
They want to play an up-tempo game.
That is not without risk but for the Rams the reward outweighs the risk.
“We are good when we are quick,” Crawford said.
The Brumbies will be trying to prevent that, and did a pretty good job of that two weeks ago.
“We let them get on the front foot,” Crawford said.
“We can’t let them get on the front foot.
“We are too small a pack not be on the front foot.”
The kicking game was another area the Brumbies outpointed them.
“They kicked well against us last time and we kicked poorly,” Crawford said.
There won’t be too much kicking from them today but, defensively, he will be looking for them to improve.
“We’ve got to be better at covering their kicks,” he said.
The Brumbies were able to turn them around and force them to chase on a lot of their kicks.
As good as last Sunday was though, it has come at a price, with breakaway Will Fletcher ruled out with a broken hand.
He picked up the injury early in the game but played on.
“That’s the sort of guts we’re going to need,” Crawford said.
“But that’s going to hurt us big time.”
He had an “awesome game”.
“He played right on the ball all game,” he said.
He also did a lot of running off the midfield.
Someone will have to step up and take on that role.
It took the Rams a little while to take to the idea of the two tiers but now that the grand final is here they are raring to go.
“We are treating it as a grand final now,” Crawford said.
