The 24-year-old from Moree is overseeing the first- ever Tamworth Golf Club Women’s Holden Scramble.
To be held September 16, the initial women’s scramble must have 36 players to qualify a team in the State Final at Riverside Oaks Country Club on October 14.
The Women’s Holden Scramble is run on the same lines as the men’s scramble – a four-person ambrose.
“It’s the first time we’ve run a Women’s Holden Scramble in Tamworth,” Moore said.
“They’ve been running the women’s scramble for 10 years.
“Winners here will go on to the State Championships at Riverside.
“I’m hoping we might get 100 players at least and that will qualify us for two teams (at Riverside).
“It depends on the numbers whether I go.”
Qualifying teams play with a professional at the finals and Moore is hopeful of taking part as well.
“Last year the Women’s Holden Scramble celebrated its nine-year anniversary, with nearly 2500 ladies teeing it up in 55 events across the country.
“It continues to grow every year.”
And Moore is hoping to ensure Tamworth is part of that growth.
The inaugural Tamworth Women’s Holden Scramble is also part of her traineeship.
She is in her first year.
“I’ve got two rounds to play – I’ve played 20,” she said.
She also plays off a plus one handicap and looking forward to improving that as she continues her professional trainees’ course at Tamworth.
And the Women’s Holden Scramble will be just a small piece of that pursuit.
So having a good turnout at Tamworth on September 26 will be a helping hand.
Cost is $39 per player but Moore reckons players might receive $20 back in such playing aids as new golf balls and the like.
“There’s probably $20 worth of golf gear going back to the players,” she said.
“At Coolah one of their sponsors puts in about $1000 worth of trophies to make it an even better day.”
Sponsored by Callaway and NSW Golf, the opening Tamworth women’s scramble day promises a lot of fun.
