Josh Osborn ensured she did, the talented young driver helping the former Kiwi filly snare a 3m win in last Thursday’s TAB App Pace (1980m).
“She had no luck at her fist Australian start at Newcastle,” Osborn said after her first race win at start number 10.
“She got pushed around at Newcastle. She did a good job today. The speed early helped and she worked up inside them.”
His main task was ensuring she “kept her mind on the job”.
Margot Lennox was delighted. “She did get pushed and shoved around at Newcastle,” she said.
“She got hooked up and couldn’t get a clear run; we drove her a little bit conservatively too, it was her first run over here.”
Lennox bought her in New Zealand and had her flown to Australia on the June long weekend.
However it took her seven hours to get from Sydney Airport to her stables at Elrington (in between Cessnock and Newcastle) after their was a major truck crash on the Freeway.
“She got caught up in the traffic,” Lennox said.
Another New Zealand import, Artsu, also won at Thursday’s THRC meeting for Moonbi trainer/driver Dean Chapple.
The four-year-old black mare, who won her first start in Australia at Tamworth Paceway, has had seven starts across the ditch for six wins.
She motored to an 8.6m win from the Ernie Mabbott-trained pair Mitrhys Magic and No Confession in the final race of the eight-race TAB meeting, the Harness Racing Travelworld LBJ Tour Closing Soon Pace (1609m).
* The THRC race again next Thursday (August 7) with another TAB day meeting. Nominations for that meeting close at 10am tomorrow.
