I owned three hens to eat food scraps and make me a few eggs, a rooster too.
A fox dug under a fence, killed my three hens, $35 each per laying hen, and mauled my rooster to the point of its eventual death.
Foxes survive in the suburbs and raid garbage bins seeking food scraps, living wherever and breeding prolifically.
Calling them a nuisance animal is being nice to them.
They are real bushrangers. They will bite if you get them in a corner but their main weapon is their ability of flight, being very quick and elusive.
I congratulate the CWA for putting effort into classifying the wild fox as a feral animal that should be shot on sight.
A bounty would be appropriate, as they are tight-skinned and not easy to skin.
They have a very pungent odour and often live on native bird eggs and young, especially wild ducks.
Please readers, don’t harbour, raise, feed or release these furry pests, as they don’t need your help or concern.
We have to buy eggs now, what a waste. We enjoyed having the hens. They, at least, produced something, unlike your furry pests.
Go the CWA.
