Susan Ellen Joyce Cutmore was arrested in connection to Strike Force Jenning – a taskforce set up by Tamworth detectives to
investigate the supply of illegal drugs in the Tamworth area.
To date, the operation has charged about 10 people with more than 50 offences.
A three-month investigation lead police to Cutmore who was charged with knowingly taking part in the supply of prohibited drugs.
While she wasn’t one of the main players in the illegal ring, Cutmore’s involvement was serious, according to Magistrate Michael Holmes.
In a sentencing hearing in Scone Local Court on Thursday, Mr Holmes denounced Cutmore’s activities and told the court a full-time custodial sentence was the only punishment available.
Cutmore was sentenced to 18 months in prison and she will have to serve out at least 12 months before she is eligible for parole in July next year.
Detectives will allege, as part of the ring, they discovered tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs, cash, firearms, a taser and explosives during co-ordinated raids on Tamworth homes in December.
When the police operation was made public, detectives alleged the group was involved in the supply of methamphetamines, cannabis and prescription drugs such as Oxycontin – much of which was seized by officers.
Many charged in connection to the ring remain behind bars as they await sentencing or trials in Tamworth District Court.
