MAY is the month for morning tea indulgence – all in the name of charity, of course – and in Tamworth one of The Cancer Council’s biggest annual fundraisers was kicked off with a smorgasbord of cupcakes.

Fundraisers for The Biggest Morning Tea are held throughout May and Teamo Teahouse in Peel St held the first for the city on Thursday, selling a range of cupcakes, with all the proceeds going to The Cancer Council.
Owner Karryn Davis said they had been inspired to participate because of the stories many of their customers shared.
She said they had customers who were battling cancer, or who had relatives going through treatment, and the Teamo team felt the morning tea was something they could do to raise awareness of – and funds to fight – the disease.
Ms Davis said they’d made 100 cupcakes to sell on Thursday, with one woman buying nine as soon as their doors opened.
Events will be held throughout the region, with some individual fundraisers now in their 20th year.
